A  wedding takes Herman, Jayce, and their friends to Hong Kong. It sounds like fun, but will the happy occasion be ruined when Herman clashes with Lucy, the mother of the bride? Jayce is a young Canadian teen who has suffered tremendous loss. She is brought into Herman's world, a grandfather she has never known. Herman lives down under in Alice Springs, Australia. A chance discovery of a nest of wild baby budgies takes Jayce and Herman on a new path together, one devoted to raising a pet bird. Unexpectedly, the path leads them to creating strong bonds of understanding, family, respect, and trust. Along the way, there is laughter, silliness, and just the perfect measure of revenge against a nasty neighbour who seems bent on causing trouble for the old man and Jayce. But why?
